Flashing 4870 to work in MacPro March 14th 2009 Posted to Apple, ATI, Leopard If you dont like minidisplay port or dont want to pay 3 times more for a card from apple, here is directions for how to get 4870 card working in macpro.. Yesterday evening I left my computer in sleep mode, when I came back it appeared to be awake with only one of the two screens working and everything frozen.. I am looking at getting one from bruinmacs and was looking for feedback from others that may have bought one and whether there have been any problems.. But it seems no one was able to do it How come suddenly everyone and their brother is now able to flash the PC 4870? Anyone know what the differences between the two are, that would prevent the 3870 from being flashed successfully? Anyone else run into this issue? Heres the link btw to where this guy shows how to flash the card.. I know its not officially supported but the issue im running into is that the operating system cannot recognize the full resolution the HP LP3065 30 inch display is capable of.. Both screens were connected to an Apple ATi 2600 XT and nothing was connected to the 4870.. The windows side can display at the full resolution but Snow Leopard can only run 1280x800 and it makes the OS look like a pile of dog **** on sunday..
